RIP Dame Maggie Smith.
She passed away peacefully at 89 on Sept. 27th.
My heart is broken with this one, even though she had a long life and magnificent career. We will always have the gift of her epic performances. ❤️

Toby Keith died yesterday! Of stomach cancer so it was probably extremely painful! Why is this something to be happy about? TK was one of the main faces of the post-9/11 country music shift to nationalism, bootlicking, republican Jesus, and songs about mindless consumption of beer/trucks/women. He was the LOUDEST voice in the mainstream country music scene of the 00s, shilling for corporate interests, war, and the police state. His songs dipped with racism(beer for my horses was practically a call to action for lynchings), jingoism(Courtesy of the Red White and Blue, American Soldier, etc), and mindless toeing of the GOP and corporate line (American Ride). His era furthered the gentrification of the "rural working class aesthetic" that had begun during the "Hat Act" era of the 90s and accelerated the the identity politics of big trucks, blaming minorities for societal issues, and general xenophobia and bigotry. I am generally not one to wish suffering on others and his death does not do anything to solve the issues he helped create but at least he's dead and it was probably excruciating.

''Someone has to die in order that the rest of us should value life more.''- Virginia Woolf
It has been 2 weeks, but I still can't move on.
I'm on the younger side of the fandom, was barely an year old when the band was formed so I obviously have no recollection of the time the band was together. Till last year all I knew 1D was by the few songs on my playlist. Till last month, the number of songs had increased and I knew the basics about the band. The point is, I wasn't a huge fan before. But for some reason, when I heard the news I was shell-shocked, I felt greif for someone I barely knew, it was like something in the universe was screaming that this is wrong, something should've gone different, he should have still been alive.
In the past two weeks I've watched the video diaries, interviews, MVs, concert clips, the films, heard the albums and read a hell lot of fanfiction. While consuming these medias, I'm invested, fully focused one second and the next I remember it is all gone now, over, and I feel like dread creeping in for something I already knew.
I watch the fan tributes and posts and wonder if the grief I am feeling is somehow less true, but u know that's not the case, that greif for everyone us different. Yet, this is the first celebrity death that affected me so much, and I see everyone around me moving on in life, time rushing forward, even though I feel like everything should have collectively stopped.
To everyone going through the same greif as me, even though it feels like it's only emptiness ahead, these memories, however new they are, are important to us and it's ok to grieve and stop for a second, but when we'll move forward, these memories will be infinitly more precious and that's the thing about life. In the end, everything in life is a tapestry of memories, from one person to millions, and when we'll look back, it'll be fond.

Ten years ago, I saw the awful news of Robin Williams taking his life. I actually, literally wept when I heard the news. I clutched my phone close to me and cried. He was gone. Our Genie was gone.
In the days and weeks after, we learned he was tragically depressed. Not only that, but he suffered from Lewy Body Dementia, something no one knew until after he passed--but it inflicted a great deal of pain upon him.
A great comedian, he hid his pain with laughter. Time to time, in dramatic roles, we would notice a hint of deep pain underneath that smile.
He has done terrific roles. Mrs. Doubtfire, Genie in Aladdin, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Hook, so many others.
Mork & Mindy: ‘In Mork We Trust’ (#1.21) (1979)
Orson: The report, Mork.
Mork: This week I discovered a terrible disease called loneliness.
Orson: Do many people on Earth suffer from this disease?
Mork: Oh yes sir, and how they suffer. One man I know suffers so much he has to take a medication called bourbon. Even that doesn’t help very much because then he can hear paint dry.
Orson: Does bedrest help?
Mork: No because I’ve heard that sleeping alone is part of the problem. You see, Orson, loneliness is a disease of the spirit. People who have it think that no one cares about them.
Orson: Do you have any idea why?
Mork: Yes sir, you can count on me. You see, when children are young, they’re told not to talk to strangers. When they go to school, they’re told not to talk to the person next to them. Finally when they’re very old, they’re told not to talk to themselves, who’s left?
Orson: Are you saying Earthlings make each other lonely?
Mork: No sir, I’m saying just the opposite. They make themselves lonely – they’re so busy looking out for number one that there’s not enough room for two.
Orson: It’s too bad everybody down there can’t get together and find a cure.
Mork: Here’s the paradox, sir, because if they did get together, they wouldn’t need one.
